Mixed Martial Arts events begin to really heat up when the summer just begins to cool down. The first weekend of September proves just that. Events will be hosted all across the globe feeding the growing phenomenon known as Cagefighting. Here is a preview of some of the events.
King of the Cage – Future Legends 3

One of the oldest promotions in the United States, King of the Cage (KOTC) has been involved in the sport for around ten years. This promotion has seen the rise of superstars like Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, Rashad Evans, Urijah Faber, and Forrest Griffin. This amateur event series is set on course to produce the next generation of superstars. With that angle, the promotion is placing for the first time in its history, two world amateur title bouts. On the card for the 155lb title Jacob Mallili will face off against Aaron Williams. The welterweight division (170lb) world title bout will be between Kurt Crum and Kirby McKenzy.
XFO – Outdoor War

This Chicago based organization is hosting an outdoor, double fight card event. The amateur circuit will fight during the day, and the professionals will do battle at night. There are some big names are on the card. The first is former UFC fighter Eric “Red” Shafer, and the second is TUF contender Mike Marrello. Both of these veteran fighters are looking to have exciting matches. The main fight to watch is undefeated Mike Pitz and his worthy opponent is 1-1 Kent Rexford. Both of these men have experience fighting under the XFO banner before, and are looking to have an exciting bout.
One Fighting Championship – Champion vs. Champion

This is the first event to be put on by this promotion, but it is forecasted to be a big one. This new series is looking to become the leader in Asia’s Mixed Martial Arts scene. Scheduled to fight is entertaining long-time UFC fighter, and MMA pioneer Phil Baroni. His opponent is another UFC veteran Yoshiyuki Yoshida. The main event on the fight card is Eduard Folayang vs. Sol Kwon. Eduard is 9-1, and was originally scheduled to fight Ole Laursen. Laursen suffered an injury, and Sol Kwon stepped up to fill the main event.

The main event for this card features 29-4 Hector Lombard. He competed in the 2000 Olympic Games located in Sydney, Australia, in the sport of Judo. His opponent is 19-6 Jesse Taylor. Taylor has fought in the UFC, Strikeforce, and DREAM. He was also a cast member in The Ultimate Fighter 7. Also returning to AFC is Rusty “The Wrecking Ball” McBride, as he faces off against Japanese fighter Yuma Ishizuka.
